Volunteering with the Student Trial Advocacy Competition

On Saturday, March 12, Mr. Falcon was honored to serve as a volunteer judge for the DC Regional Round of the Student Trial Advocacy Competition(STAC), sponsored by the American Association for Justice (AAJ). The event was held at the DC Superior Court.

STAC is an annual nationwide mock trial competition held in 14 sites across the country, followed by the national finals in New Orleans March 31 to April 3.  STAC provides a unique opportunity for law students to cultivate trial advocacy skills in front of current members of the bar and bench. The four-person teams are judged on skills with case preparation, opening statements, use of facts, the examination of lay and expert witnesses, and closing arguments.

Mr. Falcon competed in trial advocacy competitions while he was a law student at the University of Richmond.  He felt that these competitions gave him the ability to develop his litigation technique in front of real lawyers and judges. Mr. Falcon has served as a STAC volunteer for over a decade, and has always been impressed with the preparedness and poise of the competitors.

Congratulations to the team from University of Maryland who advanced to the national finals!
